We have done very little cycle touring together. A 9 day visit to the southern uplands in Scotland and the Coast to Coast across England’s northern counties sums up the majority of our joint trips.

However, Joy has cycled to and from work for the past 6 or 8 years as well as doing some recreational stuff, on and off road. Having said that, she is convinced that the word “recreational” will become obsolete on this website very soon.

Joff cycled toured when he was a youngster, and loved hostelling. About 12 years ago he spent a month cycling in Portugal’s northern mountains, followed by several weeks in Cornwall and Devon. Several trips to northern France followed.

Some might suggest this is not a substantial enough background, but we would counter by suggesting that its only a bike ride and anyway, we’re in no rush…

We intend to support ourselves entirely, by renting our house out. Joff even sold his motorbike in order to help out. This was a rather sad episode, but he is recovering well.
